Shirley Clamp

Shirley Clamp has been writing music and worked as an artist for over ten years and is very established as a singer and have been singing in demos for artists such Whitney Houston.

She was “discovered” when she was in her early twenties and soon got the chance to doing the backup vocals for artists such Ace of Base, Markoolio, A-teens etc.

After that everything went really fast and she moved from her hometown Borås to Stockholm, where she got a job as one of the solo-singers at Blue Moon Bar in October 1999, which is one of the most well known music venues in Stockholm.

In 2001 she was doing the back vocals for the band Antique and their song “I would die for you” in the Eurovision Song Contest and the year after that she was backing up the artists Hanna and Lina with their song “Big time party” in the Swedish Eurovision Song Contest.

Year 2003 was the year Shirley first performed solo in the Swedish Eurovision Song Contest with her song “Mr. Memory” which of course also was released on a single. She was also attending as a songwriter with the song “you” which was performed by Pandora, the song was co- written by Shirley and Jan Johansen and Shirley´s sister Tania Clamp.

Shirley is a very appreciated artist and have been performing in many popular tv-shows and events as:

TV4: Faddergalan 2001 Barncancergalan 2002 Nyhetsmorgon in a duet with artist Christer Björkman 2003

SVT: Swedish Eurovision Song Contest 2001, 2002, 2003 Diggiloo (will be aired 24/10 2003)

Shirely has also performed for the Swedish Royal Family during the ceremony of Stockholm Water Prize 2002 in The City Hall in Stockholm.

Year 2003 was also the year when she released her own song “Jag fick låna en Ängel” which was great received by the industry. The song is also based on the documentary with the same name as the title and is about a tragic loss of a boy.

Shirley came in second place in "Melodifestivalen 2004" with the song "Min kärlek", written by Bobby Ljunggren, Henrik Wikström and Ingela "Pling" Forsman. The single has already sold gold record in two weeks. Shirley`s debutalbum was released May 26th and went straight to the third place on the albumchart in Sweden and also sold gold.

This year, Shirley performed once again in the Swedish finals for the Eurovision Song Contest. The song, "Att älska dig", came in fourth place and became a great hit i Sweden.

Shirley`s new album "Lever mina drömmar" was released in April and so far it almost has sold gold.

In the fall of 2005 Shirley was one of the hosts for Swedish Television 1 and the saturday program "Folktoppen".

Her third album "Favoriter på svenska" was released in May 2006. On the album Shirley are performing her own versions of national hits from artists like Per Gessle, Uno Svenningsson and Tommy Nilsson and international like Sting and Cindy Lauper.

In 2007 it was time for Shirley to record an album with songs written by her own. The album "Tålamod" was released in October - including the hit singles "Jag tar en annan väg" and "Aldrig"
At the same time she went on a national tour, visiting sold out concerts halls!

In 2008 it was announced that she would team up with her musical collegues Sanna Nielsen and Sanna Nielsen for Christmas album. The release will also include their own Christmas show at "Ladan" in Båstad.
